Dare to Dream: Downton Abbey Attire

Have you all been watching Downton Abbey on PBS?

Downton Abbey is marked by the perfectionistic attention to detail, historical accuracy, and vibrant rendering of characters that I've come to expect from Masterpiece Theatre productions. Add to that the superb Dame Maggie Smith, dashing young gentlemen on horseback, and a plot of household drama (upstairs and down)... and I can hardly wait for Sunday night.

The intrigue isn't the only thing taking my breath away. I'm absolutely swooning over the costuming.

Lady Mary may grumble about her black mourning attire, but I thought it was stunning! There aren't many occasions in my dull life when it's appropriate to be swathed in black lace and dripping with jet crystals, but a girl can dream, right?

How do you suppose Adam would feel if I started "dressing for dinner?"

I have been loving the series too! Also you should check out the Downton Abbey themed posts on this blog. They're interesting and informative about a lot of the plot details.

Liz... I ran across that blog when I was searching for information on the production- it's great!

Andrea... Not bad for under $25, eh?

Alcira... The feeling is mutual, dear- thank you!

I had to watch Downton Abbey based on your recommendation. I love watching dramas from back home yet living out here, I never know when they're on.
Suffice to say, I'm loving it and I'm hooked. During a trip to visit my parents last October, we went to Warwick Castle. They had a new attraction: "Scandal at The Weekend" which focused on Daisy, Countess of Warwicks weekend party (with actors walking around) and her "indiscretions" which took place in the Edwardian period (based on fact too). Reminded of this drama series!

Glad you like it! I have a mad obsession with British tv (especially these period pieces). I hate having to wait for them to be aired in the states!

"Scandal at The Weekend" sounds amazing. Attractions like Warwick Castle might help me make my case for a honeymoon in the UK :)

this is completely unrelated to this post, but i couldn't find an email address to email you at. so, anyway:

since i'm moving to san francisco in may i'm obviously looking for a job in photography and would love to have one lined up before i go out there (fingers-crossed). i would also love to visit for a week before then and interview/job search. do you happen to have any advice on websites/ad agencies i could look at for photography jobs in the area? i've done craigslist and monster.com and all i ever get are those boring portrait/yearbook studios you would find in a mall :/

i know you're probably super busy with wedding planning, and i don't expect you to do research or anything, just wondering if you happen to know of any places? i would REALLY really appreciate it. thank you!
