Thanks Given

Uhhhhh... anyone else still nursing their Thanksgiving hangover? I've learned the hard way that "hair of the dog" does not apply to tryptophan. 16 pounds of turkey split two ways is a long, sleepy weekend.

Empty seats meant full bellies for Adam and I- in addition to our succulent cider-brined turkey, we had sourdough apple stuffing, truffled mashed red potatoes, gjetost gravy, and a pumpkin spice cake with orange cream cheese frosting (the very first cake I've ever baked!). Even the kitties feasted on turkey liver!

I'm glad we decided to truly celebrate- to dress up, light candles, and treat ourselves.

How was your holiday?

Not that I'm surprised, but it looks totally beautiful! A sweet way to spend your newlywed Thanksgiving (plus the menu sounds amazing). If you're up north at all during Christmas I'd love to get together! xo

Exsqueeze me, NOT the first cake you've ever baked! Don't you remember our chocolate and key limey somethingorother experiment in Corkery?

Rachel... Whaaaaaat? I don't remember that! Was it successful?

We used your springform pan! The limey one was a fail but the chocolate was good. I had just gotten a book about cakes as a gift? AND I brought out my recent find of The Power of Sexual Surrender - the ridic paperback I got from the Foley free book cart - and eventually it was me, you, Justin, Adam, Rachel, and Ann hanging out. Rememberrrr?

Ahhhh, now I remember! I'd completely forgotten the cake- but I'll never forget the conversation!

Everything looks so beautiful and your food sounds delicious! I wish my Thanksgiving had been more like this and less like the one on which I had to work, then come home to share food with a roommate I absolutely hate. But I got to spend it with Sean and, though it wasn't fancy and it wasn't perfect, at least I was with him :)
